The off-season is where athletes are built. Most people treat it like a break from training, but the best performers use it as an opportunity to address weaknesses and build a stronger foundation for the next season.
THE GOAL
An effective off-season strength block isn't about maxing out every lift. It's about increasing strength, improving movement quality, and developing resilience without the pressure of competition.
Before planning any workouts, identify the one or two physical qualities that will have the biggest impact on your performance. Focus drives results.
THE TRAINING PHASES
I typically divide an off-season block into three phases: foundation, strength development, and power integration. Each phase builds on the previous one while gradually increasing intensity.
This progression allows athletes to gain strength without sacrificing mobility, speed, or recovery.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
The biggest mistake athletes make is trying to stay in peak condition year-round. Use the off-season to build what the competitive season doesn't allow. A structured strength block today creates performance gains you'll notice months from now.
